FRAUD CHARGE OPENS LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21. A strange criminal case,- based on the operation of an alleged torture chamber to defraud accident insurance companies, goes to trial here today. Martin Biggs and William Bone are accused of conspiring with, three other persons to collect £4.00 insurance in a fake automobile accident. Police alleged that tine two broke the arm of Harold Jenjkins, scraped skiii oft the leg of Mrs. Alta Jenkins with a vegetable gratc/r, and poured human blood into the ear of Garret Gray to simulate concussion of the brain. A motorist, Elton Miner, was then induced to report that he had injured the trio in a traffic collision, it was charged. Later insurance claims were iiled. .Jenkins and S!lrs. Jenkins and Miner, who pleaded guilty, have agreed to testify for the Slate.
