Kiwis at Stewart Island are usually a light brown or brownish grey colour, but oho caught, in an opossum trap at Mason’s Bay recently was a dark brown like a weka, evidently a freak, remarks the correspondent of the Southland News. When caught in a trap a kiwi does not appear to struggle but lies motionless by the trap. As its excep tionally thick, tough foot does not break in the traps, they are quite unharmed and go oft’ quickly when released. The kiwis of Stewart Island are the biggest of the three species weighing about 81b.. and they are increasing quickly. “Dinna forget.”—When visitinK or passing through Napier—the "Trocadero” Is in full swine to give service and satisfaction.*
