HAS WON £40,000 IN PRIZES
ROMNEY MARSH BREEDER
LONDON, July 9.
Sturdy, grey-haired' John kgevton Quested will talk of to-day for many a month.
This 70-year-old pioneer breeder of Romney Marsh sheep was the complete prize-winner at the opening of the Kent Agricultural Society’s fourteenth annual three-dav show at Canterbury.
Mr. Quested started as a small tenant fanner at Cheriton, in East Kent, more than 50 years ago. Now, lie farms more than 3000 acres; owns a flock of 2500 pedigree Romney Marsh ewes—the largest flock in the world.
lie has exhibited in almost every country in the world —has won more than £40,000 in prizes with his Romney Marsh flock. To-day he .crowned 1 his career. He won two championships, a reserve championship, 'five firs*, prizes,, two seconds, two thirds and three reserves.
Mr. Quested was not present to receive the congratulations of his friends on his success. He. is in bed with an injury to his shin, result of a kick while judging cattle at Suffolk Show a month ago.
