VISIT TO HOME TOWN
SIR RICHARD LINTON AWAY FOR 40 YEARS (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. "I miu looking forward to visiting Palmcnston North, ray borne town," said Sir Richard Linton, a former AgentGeneral for Victoria, in London, who was knighted last June and who arrived by the Awatea to-day on a mission to advance the trade interests between Britain and the Dominions in furtherance of the Ottawa, agreement. Sir Richard, who was the founder of the Big Brother movement in Australia, which before the depression brought out 2000 English youths and settled them in Australia, said to-day that none of these who stuck to the movement had been unemployed. Ho was present at Ihe christening of the Awatea, and said that Viscount and Lady Bledisloe asked him to give their love to the New Zealand people.
Sir Richard leaves on. Friday for Wellington, and goes from there to Palmerston North, which city he left 40 years ago next month.
