While a mistress was escorting girls ranging in age from 14 to 13 years to the dormitory of a reformatory school in Boulogne, they bound and gagged her. They stole her'keys and raided linen cupboards and tore up contents, and also cut the telephone wires. Another mistress rushed to the police station and returned with gendarmes, whom a sympathetic crowd prevented from entering the building. Sixteen girls escaped, of whom only eight were recaptured.
