THE WEATHER To-day's North Island Report Blue skies were reported throughout the North Island this morning. Light, to moderate sotith-westerlv breezes were

general. The barometer had fallen to a low level. Temperatures at 9. o'clockwere : Auckland 56 degrees. Tauranga SO, Opotiki 52, East Cape and.- Gisborno 49. Napier 57. and Wellington 51-. Rough seas were reported at Opotiki; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Last Night's Forecast Another and rather intense one of a series of westerly depressions is crossing the Dominion to-day, while a oyclone is located west of Norfolk Island. An intense anticyclone covers Australia and extends on to the western Tasman Sea. Winds: Moderate to strong north-west-rrly to westerly, reaching gale force m places and backing to southerly to-night in the far south and southc-rifes shortly becoming general. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough on the West Coast and in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas; elsewhere moderate, but, -later, rising. Eastern Tasman Sea: Westerly winds, backing soon to southerlies, strong to gale- Force, with rough to high seas. Weather: Cold, unsettled and squally, with rain at times, in most districts; some heavy falls in those with a westerly aspect and in the far north : thunder and bail probable in places, and snow on the ranges.
