LONDON WOOL SALES The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cablegram from London dated September 26:—"The sales closed firmly to-duy, Homo buyers being the principal operators. As compared with last sales.' closing rates, prices are higher by to Id per lb. for crossbred lambs, fine scoured crossbred, medium greasy crossbred, and fine crossbred supe; higher by to Id per lb. Tor fiiie greasy crossbred; higher by 1 Id per lb. for. scoured merino super, "coarse greasy crossbred, coarse crossbred slipe, medium scoured crossbred, medium crossbred slipe, and coarse scoured crossbred; higher by par to id per lb. for greasy merino super and merino lambs; lower by par to per lb. for merino medium and interior."
Messrs. Dalgefy and Company have received the following cablo message from London dated September 25-: "The London wool sales closed activo with good competition except for merino short ! and faulty, which was irregular. The homo trade were the principal operators, with good support from the Continent. As compared with the closing rates of last series, greasy merino, scoured merino hurry, and greasy halfbreds~were par to id higher; scoured halfbreds, par to let higher; greasy crossbred, fine -ijd 1 to Id higher, medium and coarse Id higher; scoured crossbred, Id to l£d higher; slipes, lambs vjd to %d higher, other descriptions |d to Id higher; crossbred greasy lambs, -J,d to Id higher. The range of prices is as follows: Merino, good to super l6d to 18d, low to medium I2d to 15£d : ha If bred, 56/58's, good to super 14£d to 16£d, low to medium lid to 14d ; halfbred, 50/56's, good to super ll£d to 13d, low to medium 9|d to lid; fine crossbred, 48/50's, good to super 10-Jd to lid, low to medium 9d to 10d; fine crossbred, .46/48's, good to super lCd to 10id, low to medium B|d to 9^l; crossbred, 44/46's. good to super 9|d to 10£d, low to medium to bred, 40/44's, good to super 9£d to lOd, low to medium to 9i.d; coarse crossbred, 36/40's, good to super 9|d to 9Jd, medium to good BJ,d to 9d." Messrs. Miuray, Roberts and Company. Limited, are in receipt of the following cable message from London: "The wool sales closed firm, with competition keen, and the French buying more freely. Compared with last closing rates, crossbred greasy fino advanced 7J, to 10 per cent; medium and coarse, 10 per cent; .slipe, fine, 5 per cent; coarse to medium, 10 per cent; scoured. 5 to 10 per cent. Quotations are : 60/64's New Zealand merino, yielding 48 per cent, 13d (none offering); 56's, yielding 64 per cent, cent, IOJd (10£d) : 48/50's, mixed prep, and carding, yielding 72 per cent, lOd (9ihl) ; 46/48 % mixed prep, and carding, yielding 74 per cent. 9Jd (9£d) ; 44/46's prep., yielding 76 per cent, 9Jd (9£d) ; 44/46'5." carding, yielding 74 per cent, 9|d (9£d); 40/44's! yielding 75 per cent, 9J.d (9£d) : 36/40's, "yielding 76 per cent (none)." The prices shown in parentheses are the opening rates of the series just closed.
Tho Bank of New Zealand advises receipt of the following cable message from London dated September 25: "The sales closed firm for all kinds of wool. Quotations for New Zealand greasy, good average condition wools are: Merinos,' super, 60/64's, 17d to per lb.; merinos, ordinary, 60/64's, 14d to 15d; merinos, inferior. 60/64's, ll£d to 12d; lialfbredsi. 56/58's 13,1/1 to 14£d, 56's 12Jd to 13Jd. 50/56's 10Jd to Hid; crossbreds, 50's 10Jd to IOJd, 48/50's 9|d to 10-Jd, 46/48's 9£d to 10.1, 44/46's 9-Jd to 9?d, 40/44's 9±d to 9?d, 36/40's 9d to 9Jd." LONDON MEAT MARKETS The Bank of New Zealand has received advice of the following message from London as at the close of business this week:—"Wethers: The market is quiet but ' firm. Ewes: The demand for light-weights is good. Lambs: There is a moderate demand, Prices are firm. Quotations: Wethers, light 4jjd to fi{d, heavy 4d to 4'jd; ewes, l-'Jd to 4|d; lambs, twos 7Jd to 74d, eights 7d to 7 : ]d, fours 6Jd to o§d, seconds G|d to 7id."
