WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MURIWAI MEETING A meeting of the Muriwai Women's Instituto was held in the Murjwai Hall on Wednesday, Mrs. Black presiding over a fair attendance. The meeting opened with the singing of the ode and the leading of the aspirations. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Carlton "Williams, Mrs. Shaw, and Misses M. and M, Murphy. A most interesting talk was given by Mrs. Robske, Ma-nutukc, on her trip to the Islands, explaining the customs and modes of living of the natives, and with her she brought two native costumes, Nuie and Tahitian, which she donned to show them to advantage. The curios and handwork displayed were cleverly made and showed great artistry. At the conclusion of her talk a, hearty vote, of thanks was accorded Mrs. Robske.
Mrs. B. .11. Black, who recently returned from Canada, also displayed some handwork of the Canadian-Indians, which included small baskets, gloves and moccasins.
The roll cnll was, "things we most dislike." The competition, a square of puff pastry, was won by Mm Dailey,, with Mrs." Caleott second, aud Miss Dooley third.
A delicious afternoon tea was served hy the hostesses, Mrs. C. H. Williams aiid Miss Black. The meeting concluded with the National Anthem.
