The London wool sales closed today with an offering of 10,258 bales, including 6149 from New Zealand, and 8219 were sold. A moderate selection sold well at current rates. Inferior sorts were largely withdrawn. Prices of New Zealand sales included: Slipe half bred lambs, Belfast, top price 18£d, .average 184 d; greasy halfbred, «T2, top price lod, average 15d.

Throughout the series 97,300 bales wero offered and 54,500 were sold. The home trade bought 51,500 bales, the Continuent 29,000, and America 4000 bales, while 33,500 were held over.

The total pales of Australian was 31,000 bales, and New Zealand bales sold totalled 42,500. ' .' '."'

Merinos, spinners, and warp wools sold well throughout at July rates, with a gradually hardening tendency. Continental ordinary and lop-making styles recovered most of the opening decline. Faulty and inferior fleeces and pieces improved towards the close to 5 per cent below the July rates. Good scoureds were 5 per cent above and faulty were at par to 5 per cent easier. Crossbreds, greasy and medium, hardened throughout to close 5 per cent above, while coarse was 12J per cent above,, and scoured, medium and coarso 10 per cent above the July rates.
