GISBORNE SAVAGE CLUB t (TTY HALL PACKED liGdi SEASON COMPLETED Delightful entertainment lasting _ for four hours was provided on ladies’ night at. the City' Hall last evening when the Gisborne ‘Ravage Club presented the cream of its items during the year to a capacity house for Ihe, final evening of the 1936 season. One or two of the sketches had not been presented before, and, as (bey dealt with topical subjects, were greatly appreciated. Ait announcement was ninde during the evening that the programme Would he repeated on Wednesday evening as a. benefit tor the W.E.C’.M.R. Rand. With the usual ceremony the tribal orator, Ravage W. Al. Jenkins, conducted to the dais and installed the past rangatira, Ravage F. Tolerton. as chairman for the evening. The chairman apologised for the absence of the rangelira, Ravage W. J. Sinclair, who was out of thp district. A telegram wishing the wahines: an enjoyable evening was read from the rangatira. Before the programme was proceeded with, Ravage Tolerton extended' a hearty welcome to the ladies, present.

Had the programme been adhered to strictly the. function would have been a great deal shorter, but the generous applause of the audience met with a ready response by Ibo performers. The orchestra played with its usual finish and again the selections were chosen wisely by the musical director, Ravage Mainland L. Foster.

The conjuring of Ravage H. R. D. Moore, attracted the attention of all. and although every move was watched closely there must have been few in the hall who could detect how the tricks were done. The “Alabama Minstrels” kept the attention of the audience for threequarters of an hour, the patter of Bones and Tamho and the solos of old plantation melodies being keenly enjoyed. The items provided by tbe orchestra included “Carnival” overture, “Une Petite Chanson.” “Suite Moderne,” “Sweet Bird,” “Tn Town To-Night, “London Bridge,” “Bal Masque,” and “With Sword and Lance.” The club chorus party rendered two popular operatic choruses. Other contributions to tbe programme were conjuring and illusions by Ravage Moore; songs, “1 Hear You Calling Me,” “Trees,” and “Song, of Songs,” Savage A. Ansell; a. sketch, “Episode From Pageant,” Savages L. W. Anderson, L. Bright, G. Burns, W. Kohn, and C. 0. Bayliss; nature study, “The Milky Way,” by Savages D. lieboiiidn and C. S. Corson; and “A Savage Cow” and “Alabama Minstrels,” hv Savage C. V. Harro as interlocutor, bones, Savage R. Maclean, tambo, Savage H. McLernon, and minstrels. Savages V. Cnulton, W. Mitchell. J. W. Parker, A. Williamson, P. Hockley, C. Hampton, 0. J,. MaTgoliotilh, Athot Allan, and the pianist, Savage Wilfrid Kohn. During the evening the accompaniments were played by Ravage Kohn.
