OFF TO HOLLYWOOD
LORD WARWICK’S CONTRACT Lord Warwick is to sail for Hollywood on September 23 to fulfil a turn contract, according to the -Daily Mail, at a salary of £IO,OOO a year, stated a recent London cable message. The contract carries an option of renewal for seven years at a salary vising to £’40,000. The Earl of Warwick is the seventh holder of the earldom, which dates from 1759. The barony of Brooke, which the family also holds, goes back to 1621. The present earl was born in 1911, and has held a second-lieutenancy in the Grenadier Guards. He succeeded his father to the title in 1928, and 1 resigned from the Army four years ago. lie was formerly engaged to Miss Margaret Whigham (now Mrs. diaries Sweeney), one of the most beautiful London de-hut-antes of four seasons ago. blit the engagement was broken, and ill 1932 he married Rose, daughter of the late Mr. D. C. Bingham, of the Coldstream Guards, and Lady Rosabelle Brand. The matter of his film contract has _ been engaging the attention of the English papers for some time. Lord Warwick stated that he had been approached by a Hollywood executive who was visiting England', and that he had asked for £IO.OOO a year and a long-term- engagement.
