INCREASED PROFITS FARMERS’ AUCTIONEERING The animal report of the l* tinners Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, for the year ended July ol shows a net profit of £42,526, compared with £33,385 last. year. With £447 broughi forward, £42.975 is available for distribution. Preference dividends of 6 per cent, less the statutory reduction, require £12,661, leaving £30,312. It is proposed to pay a dividend ol per cent on the ordinary shares, against 4 per cent last year. This absorbs £IO,AH leaving a carry forward of £20.108, subject to income and land tax. ' Messrs. VALUES REMAIN STEADY

Values in all sections at the Hastings stock sale on Wednesday remained steady at last week’s values with a good inquiry generally. . Store sheep came forward m sligntiy larger numbers than usual, with values fully (Inn. The offering consisted largely of farmers’ lots, being mainly wether boggets and ewes with lambs at foot. The wether hoggets included several wellgrown lots which met with a keen inquiry. The host lots shorn as lambs brought 26s lOd and unshorn 27s 9d. A line line of ewe hoggets brought 33s 3d. The best ewes and lambs made 18s all counted. A lino of 89 woolly wether hoggets from the. Wairoa district brought 23s 3d. The line was showing an English Leicester strain and was in good order. Fat sheep were in Shorter supply, with values showing litlc change irom last week. Best, heavy prime ewes sold to 325; medium, 26s to 28s; inferior, 18s to 21s. There were/ few shorn entries, which made prices on. a par with woolled sheep. Few sprinn lambs offered, the best single making 41s and the. average 35s 6d. Store cattle again met a buoyant, market with pvicesi fullv on a par with late sales, extra, good well-grown steers showing a. tendency to improve. The largo yarding of 1250 head contained several well-bred station lines of steers in which

sorts suitable for chilling were keenly sought- after. A particularly fine line of three-year-old steers offered on account of Mr. B. L, Chambers, Eatufu station, met the market at £9 7s.
