PUBLICITY EFFORTS WAIROA COUNCIL ACTIVE (Herald Correspondent.) .Speaking at the Wairoa- Borough Council’s meeting this week, the Mayor, Mr. 11. L. Marker, said that every deputation, both town and country, had got a very good hearing from the Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs. The deputations had put up very strong cases, especially in the matter of river erosion and the. stock route, lie thought it only fair that he should record at the council meeting his liigh appreciation at the Minister’s • reception of the deputations.

Cr. M. .1. Gemmell said he was not present, hut .to judge by the press reports, not only had the Minister been sympathetic to Wairoa’s wants, but lie had warmly referred to Wairoa’s wellknown' hospitality and had given good publicity to Wairoa’s scenic resorts.

The Mayor mentioned that the council had taken a page in a private booklet to be issued next month, inviting readers to spend their holidays in Wairoa, and listing the resorts and general attractions of Wairoa. He advised the printing of further leaflets to be distributed to the business people for sending out before the carnival with their correspondence.
