FALL WHILE SKYLARKING
INJURED MAORI PLAYER FEW PERSONS PRESENT MANAGER GIVES VERSION (Por Press Association.) PALMETI'STON X., this day. Interviewed concerning tin 1 grave injuries sustained by R. '.Rogers, of the Oisborne district,' a member of the Maori Rugby team, in a fall last evening, Mr. Kingi Tahiwi, the manager of the team, said Hi at inquiries made hV him in conjunction with Mr. \V. T. Parma, the chairman of fehe selectors. indicated that Rogers and another member of the team, Hawen Mataira, were skylarking when 'Rogers fell backwards and struck his head on the concrete.
"1 think it. was purely accidental," said Mr. Tahiwi. "They were the rfnly two persons there. They fire the best of pals." (Several members of the team left the hotel to attend a dance just after 0 o'clock. Mr. Tahiwi accompanied them. Rogers was still at the hotel and intended to follow shortly afterwards, but sustained a fall. .Rogers, who comes from Gisborne, but belongs to the Rotorua district, is 24 years of age and is married.
