(Reed. Sept. 24, noon.) CANBERRA, Sept. 24. The principal effect of the sales tax exemptions tabled in-the House of Representatives by the Treasurer, Mr. R. G. Casey, will be the abolition of the tax on footwear, and beverages such as tea, coffee and cocoa. Other relief is extended over a wide variety of goods, particularly those used in manufacture. . . Goods' to an annual wholesale value of £25,000,000 will be exempt and the annual sales tax collections of the Federal Government will be reduced by, approximately £1,000,000. '
