MYSTERIOUS ASSAULT

Mr. Cook now lies in Wellington Hospital suffering from concussion and a lacerated seal]), and the police are searching for his assailant. ■'•'' i ' ' Mr. Cook was painting white lines oil the street when a passing car knocked over a lamp he had placed on the ground nearby. He .approached the driver of the car and while they were talking a bystander interfered. Passers-by were amazed to see,the man suddenly strike Mr. Cook a heavy blow on the jaw and then make off.
