Island Keport - Blue skies were reported at Wellington (his morning, but overcast conditions prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Light to fresh northerly breezes wen 1 general. The barometer had commenced' a falling movement. Tempera tun -s at 9 o'clock were: Auckland and Ppotiki 59 degrees, Tauranga and Gisborne 56,, Napier 57. and Wellington 60. Rough ' sea.-- were reported al Gastlepoint, Tanranga and Tiritiri; elsewhere, moderate or smooth. Last Night's Forecast An intense anti-cyclone has remained practically .stationary east of. New Zealand. A cyclone is centred to-day between Norfolk Island and Cape ..Maria Van Diemen, and is moving slowly southwards, while a fresh depression is located over south east,tii Australia. Winds: North-easterly to northerly, strong in the northern half of Ihe North Island, and nsiii! 1,, s ale fori cin plates in the far north; elsewhere lighl to moderate at first, but later freshening, changing later in the far north to westerly, and in places temporarily to south-westerly. Seas: Rough north of East Cape, and rising elsewhere north of Cape Egmont and fastlepninl, otherwise slight I o moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Norl h easterly to northerly winds, strong with rough seas in the northern portion, and hacking shortly to south-wcstei Iv ; light to moderate with slight to.moderate, seas in the southern portion; but wind and sea gradually increasing. Weather: Dull and misty, or in places foggy in the northern and "north-eastern portions of the North Island, with rain: some heavy falls probable : unsettled conditions and rain gradually extending) southwards to Nelson and Marlborough: elsewhere mainly fair to fine, but with further mist or fog ou parts of the East Coast, and later some rain in the far south. General inference.- A shallow cyclone is moving eastwards past, the northern extremity of the Dominion, while a rather intense westerly depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea..
