NATIONAL HALF-HOLIDAY

PETITION TO PARLIAMENT SATURDAY FAVOURED (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Over 1000 residents of Napier and Hastings have petitioned the House ol Representatives advocating a national half-holiday on Saturdays, thus reviving a movement which produced last session some immense petitions. It is claimed that where towns have changed to Saturday from the Thursday or Wednesday half-holiday, they would under no circumstances go back on this decision, as there is an unbroken shopping 1 week. The petitioners ask that the Government legislate this session to make the Saturday halfholiday compulsory in all towns.
