MAN'S BODY ON BEACH

FIND NEAR PALLISER LAKE TRAGEDY RECALLED IDENTIFICATION EFFORTS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The body of a man was found by a lighthouse keeper on the beach near Cape Palliser lighthouse. The finding of the body is believed to be a sequel to the double drowning fatality which occurred in Lake Onoke on July 5. ... The body, which was found about a quarter of a mile from the lighthouse, had obviously been in the sea for some considerable time and identification has uot yet been established. It is thought that the body had. been washed up on the beach for about 10 days. It is.hoped to identify the body by means of pieces of clothing. Where the body was found is about 45 miles from Martinborough, and was reached by the Martinborough police after a tramp of five or six miles from the end of the road. The body was brought into Martinborough this evening.

The two men who lost their lives in the lake on July 5 were G. W. Bicknell and C. E. Latham, members of a. fishing party of four, whose boat capsized in'the channel running to the outlet of the lake. Nc one else has been reported missing in the district for some time.
