The Rt. Eev. C. A. Cherrington, Bishop of Waikato, is expected to leave England on his return to New Zealand about the middle of December.

Inspector H. Martin, who had been in charge of the police force at Gisborne for the past two years, left this morning for Christchurch, to which city he has been transferred.

The appointment of Mr. B. K. Fairbrother as registrar of births and deaths at Wharekahika and the appointment of Mr. IT. W. R. Black to a similar position at Te Araroa has been Gazetted.

Additional judges appointed for the Poverty Bay A. and P. Show next month are:—Fat cattle and chilled beef, Mr. A. A. Eeid, Opotiki; Southdown sheep, Mr. R. Perry, "Heatherlea," Masterton; fleece, Mr. B. A. Clarke, Massey College; national dancing, Mr. G. C. Stronach, Te Kuiti. A piper is also accompanying Mr. Stronach for the national dancing.

The board of directors of Messrs. Newton King, Limited, at a recent meeting accepted with regret the resignation of Mr. E. Shaw from the position of general manager, owing to ill-health. The future management of the company will fall to the lot of Mr. Truby King, eldest son of the late Mr. Newton King, at present chairman of directors, who will become managing director.

Advice of his appointment as headmaster of the Puketitiri School, Hawke's Bay, has been received by Mr. A. H. Wright, of the staff of the Gisborne Central School, and ho will leave almost immediately to take up the new appointment. Mr. Wright lias been prominent in sports activities during his two years' residence in Gisborne, having occupied the posts of honorary secretary to the Poverty Bay Cricket Association and the Poverty Bay Rugby Beferees' Association respectively. An able batsman and a good fieldsman, he has contributed also to the interest of cricket as a member of n senior club team, and his keenness has offered a good example to younger players. Mi'- Wright has been connected with the territorials during his stay in Gisborne as quartermaster of the Hawke'a Bay Regiment.
