POVERTY BAY CLUB OUTSIDE TOURNAMENTS WHAKATANE AND WAIROA During the coming week-end the Whaktane and Wairoa golf clubs are taking advantage of Dominion Day to work in three-day tournaments, and several representatives of the Poverty Bay Golf Club will be taking part in each event. The main attraction at Whakatane for Gisborne players will be. the playing of an inter-club match between Poverty Bay and the Bay of Plenty, and this will take place on the second day of the tournament. A team of 20 players representing Poverty Bav will include N. H. Bull, W. K. Andrews, I. D. Bramwell, C. O. Hansen, P. C. Dwyer, T. J. Cbrkery, J. 0. Musgrave, EL T. Rrosnahan, J. M. Kay, D. M. Mclldowie, R. E. Gambrill, G. A. Bevell, R. W. J. Edwards. A. P. Salmon, G. A. Mackley, W. M. Jenkins, W. J. Mclldowie, W. Cave, P. N. Holder, and G. A. Nicholls. ■ The Wairoa Golf Club also starts its 'open tournament on Saturday, arid'o. 11. Bull, M. R. Maude and D. E. Chrisp will be representing the club at that event, while G. Chrisp will represent the new Turanganui club. GISBORNE PARK CLUB DRAW FOR SATURDAY MEN'S HANDICAP EVENT A qualifying round will be played on Saturday afternoon by members of the Gisborne Park Golf Club for a cup donated by Mr. J. Duncombe, and the 16 players with the best net scores will play oil'. The first round of the playoff must bo completed by October 4, and the series will be played on a handicap basis.
