WARNING TO TRADESMEN
Support, for the attitude which the Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, has adopted in warning tradesmen who have been awarded the 40-hour five-day Week that they, mivs.t not do private work on Saturdays, was given by tho Wellington Painters' and Decorator's Union at a, recent meeting. The following amendment to tho rules was carried unanimously:—"That any member known to be working on Saturday or any other holiday : against the terms of the painters and decorators award will be fined £5 for . the first offence, and will be liable, to be expelled from the union upon a subsequent offence."'
Mr. Walter Francis Lindsay, who for the. past 24 years has been a member of the stall' of the Government Printing Office in Wellington, died recently.
