DISCUSSION IN HOUSE

(Pur Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night

[•radically the whole afternoon in i!i,. House of Representatives to-day was occupied by the presentation of the report of the Industries and Commerce Committee, which recommended that the report of the delegation which visited P'arotonga to investigate the fruit industry should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration.

Messrs. .!. Robertson, S. G. Holland and (.'. L. Hunter spoke of the conditions in the islands as outlined in the delegation 's report. The lit. Hon. M. .1. Savage thanked the delegation for the interest it had shown in the matter. The problem, he said, was not a new one, and was practically a shipping matter. The delegation had done its work well, and its efforts would not be in vain. It was not only a matter of the Cook Islands, but of New Zealand, as Nc-W Zealand needed the fruit. The report was tabled.
