PROMOTED TOGETHER

LONDON, July 22

The twin sous of the Marquess of Linlithgow, Viceroy of India, have again achieved a double, 'it was announced last night in the London Gazette that the Earl of HopCtouni and Lord John Hope are promoted lieutenants in the Scots Guards. In 1033 .they were both gazetted as second lieutenants in thai regiment. The Earl of Hopcloun and Lord John Hope have been inseparable all their lives. At Eton they were placed next fo each other in form order and the finished up together. When they left they went up to Christ: Church, Oxford, together.

Each obtained distinction in games. At Eton Lord John Hope was " Victor Ludorum," carrying off the .mile, halfmile and quarter-iiule races two years in succession. In the high jump Lord Hopctown cleared oft. 3in. and his brother Oft. liu.
