GAOL FOR FIVE WEEKS
DRUNKEN MOTORIST WARNING NOT HEEDED (Per Pross Association.) HASTINGS, this day. A sentence of imprisonment for five weeks and a fine of £lO was imposed on John Franklin, who also was, disqualified from holding a driving license for three years by Mr. J. Miller, S.M., when charged to-day with being intoxicated while in charge, of a car and driving without a license. The accused was fined £ls last week on similnr charges. He was then warned by the magistrate that in future the court would have to consider sending smell offenders to gaol, and four hours later he was again arrested for the same sort of offence.
