The story of how two men secured a free ride from tho .suburbs into the city in a.postal van as a result of one telling the driver ho was a. policeman escorting a prisoner to tho police station was revealed in tho Police Court this morning, when Raymond Bramwell Roberts, aged 27 years, admitted assuming the designation of a constable.
The police stated that the accused and ,i companion, who was a naval officer, had been drinking and directed the van driver to take them to the station. When they arrived the accused rail away, but. was caught.
Counsel said that Roberts was trying to act as a man of means with the naval officer.
He was convicted and ordered to come Up for sentence if called upon within 12 months, conditional upon taking out a prohibition order
