STANDARD OF SERVICE
(Ter Press Association.)
ROTORUA, last night
The opinion that New Zealand hotels had a great deal to learn in the preparation of food was expressed by Signor Carreras, husband of the international dancer, La Meri, in an interview at Rotorua to-day. Signor Carreras was not complimentary ou the subject of New Zealand hotels, stating that in many small details, but particularly in the way they prepared their food, they fell beiow the standard which overseas visitors were entitled to expect on the charges. He considered the meat in New Zealand was the best in the world, but through the way it was cooked in many of the leading hotels it became unappetising. , Signor Carreras said, however, that the standard of service in New Zealand hotels was good', and the fact that visitors were not pestered for tips by porters and other hotel servants was a welcome contrast to the. tactics adopted in many hotels abroad. What deficiencies there, were in the -services lie considered were due to the restrictions of the 40-hour week.
