HEMP FOR SACKS
CHEAP RAPID PROCESS ASHBURTON INVENTION (Per Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. The Hon. 1). G. Sullivan, Minister 1 of Industries and Commerce, .is investigating the possibilities of establishing factories for the manufacture of sacks under a cheap and quick process invented by ail Ashburton engineer. It is claimed that by the process, hemp is made as soft as wool and silk, tougher than jute, tasteless and damp resisting, and that it can ho spun and knitted without fluff. Textile authorities have been impressed with the tests.
