Mr. H. P. Kay, of the field staff of the Public Trust oiiice, Gisborne, has been appointed to the position of district supervising valuer for the State Advances Corporation for the Manawatu and Wairarapa districts, with headquarters in Palmerston North.

A tribute to the efficiency of Air. G. G. Winter,, borough traffic inspector, who has received an appointment with the Waikato County Council, was given at i lie Cook County Council’s meeting today in the report of the main highways inspector, Mr. M 7. Messrs. Colin Jones and Robert Proudfoot have been nominated as trustees for the Ormond cemetery. The secretary of the trustees notified the Cook County Council of this to-day, stating that Mr. Jones was nominated to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. J. S. Allan, while Mr. Proudfoot was desired as an additional trustee. The Cook 'County clerk, Mr. F. T. Robinson, told the council that he did not think the council had power to appoint an additional trustee. The matter was deferred for investigation.
