INCREASE IN IMPORTS
BRITISH OVERSEAS TRADE RETURNS FOR AT'< 1 11ST (Reed. Sept. 15, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 14. The Board of Trade returns for August show that imports totalled £66,057,000; exports, £35,258,000. and re-exports, £4,355,000. 'ln August, 1935, imports were valued at £59,145,000, and the total exports at £39,068.000. Tho principal increases last month compared with August of last year were: Imports, grain and flour, £1,161,COO, dairy produce, £347,000, beverages, £462,000, wood and timber, £440,000, iron ore, £313,000, cotton, raw and waste, £1,677,000, iron and steel, £416,000, oils and fats, £417,000. In exports, vehicles, £413,000.
Principal decreases were: In imports, fresh fruit and vegetables, £832,000, rubber, £630,000. In exports, coal, £414,000, iron and steel, £391,000.
