ASSAULT ON MATRON
POLICE SEARCH FOR MAN NO ARREST YET MADE I Although detectives and uniformed police made widespread inquiries-, in Auckland on Monday, they were unable to trace the man who assaulted .Miss Mary Price, the matron of St. Guthbort’s College, on Saturday evening. Miss Price is" making satisfactory progress, but tin* facial injuries she suffered may prevent her beginning-her duties for some time. “;A similar assault was attempted in the same locality about a month ago and on a Saturday evening. Two girls were about to enter one of Hie college buildings when a young man, about Sft. 6in. ili height and only partly dressed, suddenly appeared and caugbt bold of one of the girls. He began to drag her away. Lift the girls screamed, and the man ran away. The matron was- informed of the incident and slie telephoned the Newnljarket police. Although a constable made a thorough search of the grounds, he was unable to trace the assailant. .The attack on Migg Price is regarded as one of the worst reported in Auckland for main- rears.
