WESTERN ETHIOPIA

LEAGUE MANDATE PLEA RETURN OF SELASSIE LONDON, Aug. 29. The Daily Herald says that Haile Selassie is prepared to return alone to the new capital at Gore and join the loyal Gallis and Amharie chiefs in fighting to the end, if the League will arrange a mandate, preferably British, Swiss or Swedish, over Western Abyssinia. His decision follows a series of hazardous investigatory flights made by Captain Brophil, who evaded the Italian air patrols and landed at Gore, where he found the chiefs solid in loyalty to the Emperor.
