(JAY PARTY FOR CHILDREN

(Herald Correspondent.) On Saturday night the Parish Hall, Tolaga Bay, was the scene of a very gay party arranged by Alesdarnes A. Cranswick, A. Norris, K. Mclntosh, A. E. Reeves, H. C. Fraser, O. G. James, F. Cleary and A. Donald for the joung folk who are spending the school vacation at tlieir homes in Tolaga Bay. Ine hall was prettily decorated with coloured streamers, and all spent a very enjoyable evening dancing until midnight. The party was made the occasion for celebrating Miss Mc-lva Morris fifteenth birthday, which falls duo in a lew days, and at the conclusion of a delicious supper Miss Morris performed the ancient rite of extinguishing the lo candles on a beautiful birthday cake before cutting it for distribution among the guests. Two Monte Carlo waltz competitions were won by Miss Zilla Norris and Air. R. Callaghan and Miss Rita Graham and Air. P. Scanned, while in a spot waltz the prize went to Aliss Alerie Holmes and partner. . Amongst those present were Alesdarnes A. Campbell, Hansen, H. Fraser, R. Berry, K. Colson, A. Donald, Hill, O. G. Mr. C. G. Calvert is spending a short holiday in Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay.— Mr. B. J. Smith returned last week from a holiday visit to Waikino. —Mr. H. R. Liittleworth leaves to-day on a holiday trip to Hawke’s Bay.—Mr. R.. A. Mace, and with him Mrs. Mace, left on his annual leave last week.

The Hauiti Football Club held a very enjoyable dance in the llauiti Hall on Saturday night. There was a good attendance of members and then- mwnds, who spent a happy evening dancing to music supplied by Miss B. Marino and Messrs. W. P. Amaru, W. Te Miha and J. Morris. During intervals in the dancing Miss Rita Gray, accompanied by Mr. W. P. Amaru at the piano, was heard in several songs. In the finals for the Patterson Cup, played on the Tolaga Bay golf links during the week-end, Miss B. Weeks and G. McCready defeated Mrs. G. Wilson and W. F. Morton, three and two.
