Formerly one of the linest homesteads in the district Burleigh, a two-storey 10-roonied residence owned by Mr. ,i. W. Douglas and occupied by his manager, Air. W. Arthur, was totally destroyed by lire at midnight. The members of the Arthur family escaped narrowly in their night attire, losing all their personal effects, including money. The house was insured for .111000.
