New Racing Track in U.S.A.

TT is many years since any serious attempt was made in the United States to promote road*racing, but the popularity of this kind ol event in Europe has led a syndicate of wealthy sportsmen to co-operate in building a suitable course.

The site chosen is Long Island, near Xew York, and the circuit is almost completed. It will be known as the Roosevelt Raceway, and should bo one of the finest circuits in the world. Very tortuous, with numerous straights and curves, the track doubles back in such a way that it; runs parallel with itself, and spectators will be treated to the unusual sight from the one vantage point of cars running in each direction. Actually, the layout is such that (he parallel roads of the circuit form a’ gigantic capital “E.” There is a starting and finishing straight of 1258 yards, and all straights are 300 ft wide, and the ■curves 140 ft wide. The track is set in a field of 248 acres, and its surface will be of a special composition, treated with asphalt.
