THE WEATHER ir =” To-day’s North Island Report Overcast conditions were reported throughout the North Island this morning. 'Light to moderate north-westerly breeezs were general. The barometer had commenced a falling movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland, East Cape and Napier 58 degrees, Tauranga 59, Opotiki and Gisborne 5/, and Wellington 56. Rough seas were reported at ,Opotiki; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast While an anticyclone lies east of the Dominion, a depression is advancing across the North 'Tasman Sen and an intense westerly depression extends over the South Tasman. Winds; Moderate, but. freshening, northerly, later tending more westerly and rising in places to gale force. Seas (Now Zealand waters): Rough on the. West, Coast of the South Island; moderate in the coastal waters south of East Cape; elsewhere. moderate to rather rough and increasing about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong northerly to westerly winds increasing to gale force, move especially in the southern portion ; seas rough. Weather: Cloudy to overcast in western districts and the far north and south, with rain in many places; fair for the most part east of the ranges hut. later, some scattered light rains probable there also; temperatures still mild. Midday Forecast General inference. —Pressure is very high to the cast of New Zealand, bul a deep depression covers the Tasman Sea, its centre being near Tasmania. Forecast, —Light to moderate northerly winds. Weather, cloudy to overcast, and in places misty, with occasional rain in most places. Temperatures, mild. Seas, moderate.
