The Crown Law Department lias decided not to proceed with the charge against Cyril Thomas Brennan of having ■stolen JJSCCO worth of diamond rings from the shop of Caris Bros., Perth, and Brennan was released from custody. He had served 11 months of the .sentence of 10 years on the charge of having unlawfully'killed Edgar Arthur Whitfield, the caretaker of the premises of Caris Bros. He appealed successfully to the State Court of Criminal Appeal against his conviction for manslaughter, but the High Court ordered a retrial, which ended in Brennan'.-- acquittal this week. He immediately was re-arrested on the charge that has now been withdrawn.
