The Government's plans for. the legislation to-be placed before Pnrltomenl immediately after its resumption on Tuesday, following the midwinter recesH of Bvo weeks, are now practically com plcte. Although.several Ministers have been.absent from Wellington, the Cabinet, meetings, ha.ve fceen held daily this week and there will be.further a meeting to-day. According to the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, satisfactory progress has been made vvitli the drafting of the new policy measures, and no delays are anticipated when the Houst of Representatives meets. A caucus, of the Government party would be held on Monday morning, Mr. gavago said, when the details of the iicw legislation would be explained to the members, who also would U given an outline of the general policy to be disclosed in the Budget. The .Prime. Minister repeated that the Finance'Bill,' providing for the restoration of all wage and salary .cuts, would be the first business to receive the attention of the House. Probably it would be followed by a bill dealing with the readjustment of mortgages on a basis of the guaranteed price for dairy products. It wa3 the aim of the Government t<: have the Budget presented us soon as possible, but no definite date had yet been fixed. Other measures which probably would receive carlv attention were two bills to' be handled by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. 1). <«■ Sullivan, one setting up the judicial tribunal to control and regulate commodity prices and the other providing for tlie encouragement and development of industries. The Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill, which was left uncompleted when tho House adjourned last month, also would have to be put through its remaining stages. "There will be plenty to occupy the time and attention of members," Mr. Savage added, "and they will not be asked ti concern themselves with unimportant trifles."
