OPERA HOUSE SUCCESS

The Opera House was well tilled last evening, when a concert in aid of the Women's National Reserve fund for the erection, of a women's rest in Gisborne Was staged with a considerable degree, of Success, the entertainers being principally the pupils of Miss Maureen Keany and Airs. P. Barry. The theatre Was placed at the disposal of the organisers by Mr. R. J. Kerridge, managing director of Gisborne Theatres. Limited, and much interest was displayed by members of the public, the performance having the additional advantage of being Stage-managed by Air. A. J. Nieol, Whose experience in back-stage work is invariably appreciated. The programme was a lengthy one, ftnd included the following items: — Opening chorus. "Happy Days Are Here Again." by grouped performers: comedy tap dance, by Miss Tua Smith and Master Tom Martin: song, Master Bob Smith; duet. "The Lady in Red." Miss Margaret Collier and' Master Tom Martin,- scena. "Rig Pad Wolf," Miss Keany's pupils; hoop dance, Misses Tua and Doris Smith: song. "Covered Wagon." Master Sammy McKay: song. "Lullaby," Master Tom Shields: song with chorus. "Please," Mi.-ses Tua Smith and Bona Marlell; song. "Dolly Varden." Miss Hilda Moore; dance scena, "When Knights Were. Bold,' Miss Keanv's pupils, duo dancers. Misses Billv McCafi'ertv and Dawn Ingram: duet, "You Were So Charming." Misses Margaret. Collier and Tua .Smith; lap dance duo. Masters Tom Martin and Val Steggall: song. "Sunshine Soldiers," Miss Dorothy Hayes; humorous sketch, Mr. J. Lyle; classic dance, Misses Margaret Collier and Tua and Doris Smith; humorous songs. Mr. W. Willrie; skipping dance. Miss Sheila Munro; song. "Sailors." Master W. Dunsmore: scena, "Whistling Waltz," soloist, Master Rob Smith, with ballet and chorus: tap dance. Miss Joy Sealv: dance duo, "In Winter Time," Misses Betty Darling and Elvira. Courtney; song duo, "Keys of Heaven." Misses 11. Moore and Dorothy Hayes: hiking ballet. Miss Keany's pupils; Hawaiian scena. soloist Miss Tua Smith, with ballet.
