EFFECT ON THE PUBLIC
"('loveriunent Departments would become more human if they advertised," said Mr. I!. J. Sykes, president of the Institute of Incorporated Practitioners of Advertising, recently. He was speaking :it the annual dinner of its fellows and associates at the Oonnanghl Booms, London. The past year, he said, had been a good one for advertising, which was now establishing itself more firmly annually as one of the greatest of primary public services. Mr. Sykes said that while formerly il was occasionally possible for manufacturers lo snatch a pm.fil by a. false (Inscription of their goods, to-day the public bought advertised goods with increasing confidence.
