WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
WAIKOA MEETING j Mrs. N'olan presided over Ihe kites' meeting of the Wairoa Women's histitute. Arrangements were made roc the birthday meeting to be held on July 21, and invitations are to be extended to neighbouring institutes, and, also to Hied Women's Division of the Farmers' [fnion. Reminders were given ol Ibe Industries Pair to be held in August. The usual grant of cocoa was made to the public and the Convent, schools. Members of the musical circle gave several items, and two pleasing numbers were given bv the Celtic quartet (Con vent School).' Mrs. Peat gave a very interesting demonstration of remodelling a fell- hat. The competitions, savouries! and gingerbread, were both won bv Mrs, .1. Pnibblo. The hostesses were Mesdamcs Macdonald, Murray, Stohoe, Hart, Haines, yviverton, and Milne. The singing of the National Anthem closed the meeting.
MAST CAPE MEETINTi
Tiic monthly meeting of the East Capo Women's Institute was held nt "Rangiata," East Cape, (lie residence of Mrs. Jl. T. Koherc, on June 14. The day being so beautifully fine, there was a good attendance 'of members and friends. Mrs. W. Walker presided.
The meeting opened with a hymn, after which Ihe creed was read by Miss R. Koherc. -Mrs. Kohero welcomed her guests. It was decided I hat every member should contribute an article to the institute babv. The accounts showed u eredil balance of £ls lis 9d.
There was a very pleasing display of decorated cushions with a sugar-bag foundation tilled with ranpo down. The junior section display of decorated pin cushions worked into pauii and cockle shells was very much admired. Junior section.—Pin cushion: Miss Ora Koherc, I; Miss Heni Koherc. 2.
The (lining-room was decorated with flowers and sprigs of native olive, the institute's emblem. A blazing open fire added to the cheerfulness of the gathering. The hostesses, Misses Oha and Rewa Kohere, provided lunch and afternoon lea. A pleasant, afternoon was brought to a close by the. singing of the National Anthem.
