BOXING

OFFER TO ROBERTSON

FIGHT WITH PLUTO

SERVICES IN DEMAND

The services of Watty Robertson, the Gisborne professional welterweight boxer, are in demand by more than one district association at present, and Jus chances of a fight with the Western Australian lightweight champion, Lyri Pluto, seem to bo. bright. He received yesterday an offer from the Waikato association to ■fight Pluto in Hamilton, terms being left in abeyance, until it is established that Robertson will be available. •- . Recently the Gisborne association. Has been endeavouring to arrange for Pluto to visit this centre, for a match with Robertson at a date about a fortnight hence, 'but s'o'far the negotiations ' have been unsuccessful. The Hamilton offer suggests a date which might clash with the project of the Gisborne association, and Robertson-is naturally keen to fight the Western Australian at Gisborne. Plenty of sparring and road-work in late weeks has put Robertson in good fettle, and bis exhibition in the training ring have been watched with interest by many close followers of the sport. A feature'of bis boxing is that he has gained experience and speed, and if be meets Pluto, cither at Gisborne or elsewhere, he should give a. good account of himself.
