MARRIAGE TO PORTER
KING'S EFFORTS TO ANNUL
LONDON, June 2. It is rumoured that Tashin Pasha, the Traq Court Chamberlain, who has arrived at Athens, has been instructed by his Royal master, King Ghazi, to obtain the annulment erf the marriage of King Ghazi's sister, Princess Assa, to a hotel porter.
It is understood that the King will offer the porter a sum variously estimated between £6OOO and £IOO,OOO, as a compensation if ho abandons his bride.
The Chamberlain is now conferring with Princess Assa's sister, who has already made desperate efforts to have the marriage annulled.
The Chamberlain denies that he is offering compensation. It is understood, however, that he will soon seek the princess on the island of Rhodes, where* she is honeymooning. Both the princess and porter have declared they will not allow anything to part them., Princess Assa has declared she is weary of court life. Having married the man she loves, she has renounced her Royal rank and become plain Madame Charalambi.
