Mr. W. J. Lee returned during the week-end from a visit to Wellington, Palmerston North and Taranaki.
Adjutant C. C. Neeve, of the Napier Salvation Army and formerly in charge of the local corps, is paying a brief visit to Cisborne.
Mr. Fred Elliott, a widely travelled English evangelist, who is at present holding meetings in Napier, will visit Gisborne next week.
Mrs, H. P. Coleman, Wellington, is staying with Mr. and Mrs. 1). W. Coleman. She arrived from Wellington during the week-end with Mr. Coleman on his return from his Parliamentary duties. Mr. F. N. Thompson, assistant engineer in charge of street works, has tendered his resignation to the Wellington City Council as he is taking up private practice. Sister Doreen Tolerton, well-known to many Gisborne people and formerly engwged in her profession mainly in the Auckland district, has received an appointment in the new Nuffield Wing of Guy's Hospital, London, and left recently for London to take up her work. Sister Tolerton is one of a number of New Zealand nurses engaged for hospital staffs in the United Kingdom, the Dominion haying an excellent reputation at Home for the training given to its nursing graduates. Her work at Guy's will be the care of child patients, the Nuffield wingi having boon added to the famous hospital especially for the treatment of children. Sister Tolerton is a daughter of Mr. F. Tolerton, Gisborne.
