Schedule Reorganisation For Poverty Bay A. and P. Show

A NUMBER of important alterations made in the schcdulo for the Poverty Bay A. and P. Show, to ho held in October, were agreed to at a meeting of the Show association's general committee on Saturday. One of the main changes will bo in the wool section, in which all Southdown wool will bo eliminated. Members considered that as Southdown shee]i were not fanned for wool production and as entries in the Southdown classes were usually small, it would not bo worth while encouraging these classes any further. There will be no specified count in the Bomney crossbred classes, but there will be separate classes for coarse, medium and line wools for Bomney crossbred flock ewes and for Bomney crossbred hoggets shorn as lambs. There will be no restrictions as to quality for Bomney crossbred hoggets not shorn as lambs. in the pig section, it Avas decided to delete the classes for Large Blacks. In order to encourage young farmers, a special prize of £2 2s will be Awarded for the member of the Young Farmers' Club securing most points in' the pig section. The two classes each lot bacon'ers and porkers suitable for the export market to be judged at the showgrounds, at 'Haiti, and at Smithficld, are to be combined to make one class, each for porkers and baconers with three sets of prizes in each class, tho prizes to be for showground judging, Jvaiti judging and Smithficld piaemgs, This action was taken so that the two sets of judging in New Zealand could be compared with Smithficld require? ments so as to be a guide for producers and judges in New Zealand. Much the same provision Avas made with regard to the lambs for freezing. They Avjrfl be judged on the hoof, when dressed for freezing, and also lit Smilh.icld, the ono class covering the three judgings. Horse and competitions sections requirements have been amended slightly. In the jumping competition for maidens, competitors will be required r.o take tho ilrst three fences only. The wire jump must be decided no! inter than noon owing io the difficulty in jumping wire with the sun in the horses' eyes.

No judges' names \yill be announced until after tho closing of the entries, the secretary, Mr. \V. E. Chamberlain, to keep the judges' acceptances .strictly secret from even the president and members of the committee until ihc names are requirod for the catalogue. This action has been taken in vieAV of a prejudice some competitors havo against certain judges.
