LEADING U.S. TENOR

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Richard Crooks, loading tenor of the New York Metropolitan Opera Company, is travelling to Australia by the Mariposa with his wife, son, and daughter, and is returning to New Zealand later. Mr. Crooks said that the Metropolitan Opera, had just- had the most successful season in its history, largely due to the broadcasting of leading artists in sponsored programmes. For 10 broadcast performances of operas, the company received 150,000 dollars.
