GOVERNMENT'S WORK
SECOND PART OF SESSION IMPORTANT MATTERS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Outlining the Government’s intentions for tho second part of the session, the Prime Minister, (he Rfc. Hon. M. J. Savage, said to-day that, he saw no reason why Parliament should not adjourn by ttie end of October. There were stilt ' a number of important matters to be dealt with, notably mortgage legislation and the presentation of the Budget, but three months should be suf'doieut to see the end of the session.
A ext year the House probably would not meet until he returned from the imperial Conference, ino3t likely some ume m August. Mr. .Savage also said that no definite public works schedule had yet been decided upon. The Government felt n fitting to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the Dominion in 19-10 n soine substantial form. What better monument could there be than completing a number of public works? he asked. The Government was determined to go ahead with a vigorous policy, and if it did not, have the men in the service at present to do the job it would see that men were engaged from outside. The matter of tho completion of Parliament Buildings was mentioned, ami -Mr. Savage replied that it seemed likely that the Government would have to complete, these, in addition to the erection of other public buildings (hat were necessary.
