STOCKINGS IN SENATE

MISSILES FROM GALLERY FRENCH SUFFRAGETTES RIBBON INSCRIPTIONS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.)' (Reed. June 3, noon.) PARIS, June 2. Youngi suffragettes startled elderly senators by storming the building during the course of the opening session and throwing stockings from the galleries on to the legislators' heads during the President's speech. The stockings bore ribbons inscribed : "Even when we have the right to vote your socks will be mended."

The Senate is traditionally against suffrage for women, despite the action of the Chamber of Deputies in previously voting in its favour.
