THE WEATHER Today's North Island Report Overcast conditions were reported this morning at Auckland and Wellington, but blue skies prevailed elsewhere in the Xoith Island. Light to moderate southwesterly breezes were general, 'the barometer 'had commenced a falling movement. Temperatures at 9 o'clock were: Auckland £C degrees. Taurauga 49. (motiki 39. East Cape and Wellington 45, Gisbornc 46. and Napier 47. Rough seas were reported at Casllepoint ; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Last Night's Forecast General situation.- An intense anticyclone lies centrally over ihc Dominion to-day, while a shallow depression is located over the Western Tasman. Forecast.— Winds: Light to moderate and variable, hut north-easterlies gradual! v setting in and freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters) : Rather rough between Casllepoint and Last Cape, but decreasing; elsewhere, slight to moderate, but later rising on the West Coast of the Soulh Island and Fovcanv Strait : moderate north-east to north winds with slight to moderate seas, bid wind and sea later rising. Weather: Line generally at first, but cloud increasing anil' later rain gradually developing in the , western and fa:. southern districts; cold night, but temperatures becoming gradually milder.
