Work on the erection of the Clutha River Company's dredge is proceeding and about 25 men are emplojied. This has given a great impetus to employment in Alexandra.
The planting of the southern end of Customhouse street with trees in the middle of the road was suggested at last night's meeting of the Borough Council by Cr. H. H. De Costa, who said it had been recommended by the Beautifying Association. The matter was referred to the reserves committee.
